Suspect seriously injured himself during break-in

On Saturday October 5th at approximately 01.15 p.m. several police patrols, detectives, Forensic Department and paramedics were sent to Cork Tree Drive in Cole Bay where a man was found lying in pool of blood and not showing signs of life.

On the scene the victim was found and after several attempts by the paramedics they succeeded in reanimating the victim. The victim had suffered a very serious wound from to one of his arms and had lost a large amount of blood causing to lose consciousness.

The victim was transported in very critical situation the Sint Maarten Medical Center where he was operated on immediately after which he was admitted for observation.

On the scene the investigating officers followed a trail of blood that came from the victim to a home in the vicinity.

The investigators noticed that the home in question had broken into and that the suspect had injured himself by breaking a glass window while committing the act. This case is under investigation by the Detective Department.

 

3 suspects arrested with stolen vehicle.

On Saturday October 5th at approximately 03.50 p.m. a Simpson Bay Police patrol spoke to a French citizen  who stated that he had filed a report that his vehicle been stolen on the French side.

He also stated that shortly before he saw when a man parked his car in the parking lot of the Atlantis Casino.

On the scene the patrol saw the suspect when he attempted to step into the vehicle. He was arrested immediately and while searching the suspect, the keys of the vehicle were found.

Two other suspects that were also in the vehicle were also arrested. All suspects were taken to the Philipsburg Police Station for further investigation by the Detective Department. The vehicle in question was confiscated.

 

7 young men held in connection compulsory identification

During the week-end of October 4th through October 6th  2013, 7 young men, five of which are from the French Side, were held at the Philipsburg Police Station be cause they could not properly identify themselves and because they were riding scooters without helmets, license plates, didn’t have any insurance and proof of ownership.

All suspects were released after identification was brought in by a family member. The scooters remained in safe keeping by the police until proper documentation is brought in.
