Armed robberies

The Police Special Robber Unit is presently investigating two recent armed robberies which took place in the late evening and early morning hours of Friday April 8th and Saturday April 9th 2016. One robbery took place at a secondary school in the Sint Peters area where the two security guards that were on duty were robbed of their belongings by four young men, possibly teenagers, who had their faces covered and one of which was in the possession of a fire arm. After committing this act all four persons fled the scene on foot.

The second robbery took place on the Billy Folly road in the vicinity of Buccaneer and Burger King. The victims were robbed of their cash and cellular telephone by two unknown armed men who had their faces covered. The suspects had their faces covered and after committing this act the fled the scene on foot.

Casino robbed.

The Special Robbery Unit along with several police patrols were sent to Tropicana Casino on Monday April 11th at approximately 12.35 p.m. where shortly before three armed men had stormed into casino and robbed it of an undisclosed amount of cash. After committing this act the suspects fled in a heavily tinted grey/silver colored Van with license plate V-2800. Immediately a search of the area was conducted to locate the suspects. The suspect vehicle was found on the Aaron Jacobs drive in Cape Bay. The detectives are presently talking to potential witnesses and the forensic department is collecting evidence. The Van has been confiscated for further investigation. No suspects have been arrested in this case thus far. As more information becomes available the media will be informed.

Chain snatching

The Detective department is presently investigating several cases of “chain snatching” which have recently taking place and is warning the general public to be very careful when venturing out during the day and at night with expensive chains around their neck. The Detective department has noticed an increase in this criminal act.

“MENAM” case in court

The Police Department is informing the general public that the “Menam” case (Gamali “Benji” Benjamin case) will be handled in the Court of First Instance this coming Wednesday April 13th 2016 from 09.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. and from 02.00 p.m. until the court is adjourned. This court session will be held at the Belair Community Center in Cay hill under very strict rules and extremely tight security.
