KPSM delegation left to Suriname to participate in the 2015 Korpsweek celebration
Upon arrival we were greeted by the organizing committee of Suriname, who made sure that we got settled in and comfortable for the remainder of the trip. We were also assigned a hostess, Agent Trudy Pengel, who did an outstanding job.
The official start of Korpsweek 2015 got underway on Friday, July 26th, 2015 with a welcome party. During this gathering we had the opportunity to meet and mingle with the other participating delegations. Those being: Aruba, Curaçao, BES Islands, Netherlands and the host country Suriname. For the remainder of the week we participated in various activities such as: the official opening, walk a thon, relay race, shooting, soccer, volleyball, domino, basketball and a cultural evening. On July 1st, 2015, Suriname celebrated their 120 years of service and all delegations came out in full force for the festivities. The week came to an end on Friday, July 3rd, 2015 with a song festival. The St. Maarten delegation brought home the honors of sub champs for the basketball games.
The board of the SXM PSA will like to take this opportunity to thank all persons who contributed in some way or the other during our barbeque/domino blow out competition including those who came out and supported the cause. We are also grateful for those persons who helped out with minor preparations for the trip to Suriname. Korpsweek 2016 takes part in Aruba from August 12th to August 20th, 2016. The SXM PSA will be organizing various fundraising events for this trip.
