« Ignacio and the mysterious egg » is a short story written by school teacher Joselyne Arnell, illustrated by her daughter Milkaya Laijah.

This story will appeal to a wide range of young readers aged 3 to 9 as it depicts the life changing quest of Ignacio the iguana after he finds an egg.

The illustrations set the story in the lush Caribbean vegetation and capture the richness of the environment.

Both parents and teachers can use this book with early learners to introduce or support new concept.

Deeply rooted in the Caribbean’s oral tradition of storytelling, Joselyne Arnell vividly remembers the precious moments spent with her siblings gathered around their grandfather, listening to tales about « life on the old sugar plantations and adventures of the Panama canal. »

As a mother and primary school teacher, she felt compelled to share the magic of words, so reading and writing stories for young children took on an essential part of her life.
