Suspect arrested on fire arm charges

KPSM, Philipsburg, May 28th 2012 – On Friday mat 25th at approximately 01.45 p.m. during patrol on the Prins Bernard Bridge a Zero Tolerance patrol saw when the driver of silver colored Kia Picanto with the license plate 6720AAA made an illegal left turn and drove into the direction of Fort Willem.

The patrol followed the driver in order to give him fine for that traffic violation. The driver of that vehicle was summoned several times by the patrol to stop however the driver did not do so and increased speed in order to get away from the officers. Back up was immediately called in. The patrol chased the car through the Fort Willem Hill area until he ended up in dead end street on the Fort Willem drive. The driver jumped out of the car and took-off running through neighborhood.

When the driver jumped out of the vehicle it was still in motion with the result that this car collided with a parked car. During a search of the suspect vehicle a revolver Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum was found under the driver seat. This weapon was confiscated for further investigation. The Central Police Dispatch was informed about the situation and the description of the suspect was also given through to the other patrols heading to the scene. After an intense search of the area by the patrols a man fitting the exact description of the suspect was caught hiding in the bushes. He was arrested immediately on weapon charges and transported to the Philipsburg Police Station. The suspect with the initials M. Mc.D. from Jamaica was put into custody pending further investigation.
