Sint Maarten : POLICE REPORT

Two suspects arrested for drug possession.

On Saturday March 26th 2016 at approximately 07.30 p.m. a unit from the Multi Disciplinary Team arrested two men for drug possession. This arrests took place in the Cape Bay area while the suspects were driving in a Hyundai Accent with license plate 3747-AAB. The suspects were driving in an area which is well known to police where narcotics are sold. The vehicle was stopped by the team and controlled for drugs. During the control a plastic bag containing an amount of marijuana and a plastic bag containing an amount cocaine was found and confiscated for further investigation. But suspects with initials D.R. (20) and W.G.C.B. (48) were arrested on the spot and taken to the Philipsburg Police Station for further investigation.

Man arrested for threat and fire arm possession

The Detectives are presently investigating a case of Threat and firearm possession which took place on Saturday March 26th at approximately 10.20 p.m. on Richardson Drive in Dutch Quarter. This is when a call came into the Emergency Central dispatch from the female victim who stated that she was attacked and threatened by a man with a gun. She also stated that the suspect had fired two shots at her. Immediately a police patrol went to the scene to investigate what had taken place. On the scene the officers spoke to the victim who pointed out the suspect. The suspect was immediately arrested on the scene an remains in custody for questioning and further investigation. During a search of the area the officers found the gun belonging to the suspect. The weapon was also confiscated for further investigation. (see pic attached)

Police chase resulted in traffic accident.

The Police traffic Department is presently investigating a traffic accident which took place on Sunday March 27th (Easter Sunday) in the Belvedere area just before the border between the Dutch and the French side of the island involving a police vehicle with license plate L-47. The police officers who were chasing a red vehicle with an expired license plate lost control, after they were forced off the road by this vehicle. As a result hereof the police vehicle ended up severely damage and could not continue driving. The suspect vehicle continued on to the French Side.The paramedics were also on the scene and transported the officers to the hospital to be checked. The officers suffered no internal or external injuries and stated that they felt slight pain in their arms due to the severe impact. As more details of this investigation become available these will be released.
